With public-facing online platforms being the center of business for much of the media and entertainment industry, companies in this space are uniquely vulnerable to cyber threats from hackers, a new report by online security firm ZeroFOX has found. “Cybercriminals have recognized the opportunities that online platforms represent for celebrities, sports teams, and the media and entertainment industry as a whole, and seek to exploit their market presence and revenue potential,” the researchers say. Celebrity Law Firm Hacked, Attackers Threaten To Leak Stolen Data

Personal information and contracts belonging to celebrities including Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Elton John have been stolen by hackers A celebrity law firm has confirmed it has been hacked, and the attackers are said to be threatening to publish sensitive data of some of the biggest names in show business. The website of New York entertainment law firm Grubman Shire Meiselas & Sacks remains unavailable at the time of writing. The hackers are said to have stolen 756 gigabytes of data including contracts and personal emails belonging to its clients, who include musicians such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart and Elton John.
